Workshop Inno3: Making open source an ally for innovation in the face of new European regulations
9 December 2025
CNIT FOREST 2 Place de la Défense, 92092 Puteaux
Duration: 3 hours from 2 PM to 5 PM
Aware of the economic, social and political challenges posed by digital technology, the European Union has developed its regulatory framework year on year to create a new European market regulation that aligns with Europe’s values.
Recent months have seen the emergence of crucial legislation relating to the circulation of products within the European market, including the AI Act, the Cybersecurity Act (CRA) and the Product Liability Directive (NPLD). While the full implications of these texts will only become apparent in a few months’ time, their implementation is likely to transform the landscape and alter the dynamics of players at the European and, undoubtedly, international levels.
This presentation will therefore focus on these new regulations and, more specifically, on the role given to open source in its various forms and for its various stakeholders in terms of the innovation it brings to the European market. This will be addressed from two perspectives: that of each organisation, which will have to change its practices, and that of all operators (partners, customers, suppliers, etc.) involved in the supply chain of a digital product.
This European regulatory framework will therefore be presented as an opportunity to be seized. This will translate into a convergence in terms of both values and practices between regulation and the uses of open source. This training course will outline the key elements to be aware of and explain the nuances introduced by the European legislator to restore balance to the European market.
